Lynwood Unified Elementary Schools Promote Early College and Career Exposure

Roosevelt Elementary School recently hosted a College and Career Day for students from preschool through sixth-grade, showing the young scholars all the possibilities available in healthcare careers, engineering, marketing and business, performing arts, fashion, law enforcement and more.

On May 2, Roosevelt students visited a variety of stations hosted by professionals in the community who volunteered their time to discuss their careers, answer questions and help students explore their potential interests.

Nearly two dozen guests participated, including aerospace engineer Yetza Cadenas, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, City of Lynwood Public Works representatives, craft and candle-maker Anya Levart, carpenter and construction worker Carlos Aldrete, and registered nurse Sunny Barriguete.

Schools across Lynwood Unified host College and Career Days to ensure students are exposed and have the opportunity to explore a variety of real-world pathways early in their academic journeys.
