Lynwood Unified School District Recognizes Martin Luther King Jr. Day

This Monday, Jan. 16, join the Lynwood Unified community in honoring Martin Luther King Jr.’s inspiring legacy and his accomplishments in the fight for racial equality.

Lynwood Unified observes this day as an opportunity to reflect on our mission and determine what still needs to be done in our continuous efforts to boost equity and inclusion.

There will be many opportunities on Jan. 16, and as we enter Black History Month in February, to engage with the community and participate in this movement:

  • On Jan. 16, join the virtual event "Becoming Brave," a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which will include song, spoken word and dance. The event will be hosted by Lift Every Voice Legacy and Communities of Color Coalition. Participants can register here
  • On Jan. 16, attend the 38th Annual Kingdom Day in Los Angeles. Participants can reserve seats, join live or volunteer here.
  • Additionally, find local volunteer opportunities in your community here.

Lynwood Unified encourages you to continue advocating for justice, equality and inclusion in your community. As a District, we strive to ensure the legacy of Dr. King and other historical figures is reflected in the work that is done for students.
