Lynwood Unified Hosts League of Innovative Schools Visit

Lynwood Unified School District hosted the League of Innovative Schools during a health collaborative workshop at the City Council Chamber on Oct. 17 to discuss health service tactics with school districts across the country.
 
Lynwood Unified Board members, Superintendent Dr. Gudiel Crosthwaite and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Shawna Dinkins spoke on the District’s Health Collaborative, which provides a wide variety of health services to students, staff and teachers in the form of resources, workshops and counseling.
 
The District team then made its way to the Inclusive Innovation Convening in Downtown Los Angeles, hosted by Digital Promise, to present alongside other school districts and organizations. Lynwood Unified students also had the opportunity to join the conversation and share how Lynwood’s Health Collaborative helped them succeed.
 
Lynwood Unified was recognized for its extensive efforts to provide mental, physical and academic resources for students and remove barriers to success. The District is partnered with more than 40 organizations to bring a wide range of these services to students, including:

  • Mental and Physical Health Services
  • Substance Abuse Counseling
  • Young Parent & Pregnant Teen Support
  • School & Transition Assistance for Youngsters (STAY)
  • Foster Youth Services
  • Health Insurance Services
  • Health Education Workshops
