Crossley next light please I'm happy to announce that in light of the pandemic the California Coalition for PBIS created a new award because with the schools closures they weren't able to do the school visits and observations so they cry what is a 2020 California PBIS Community cares recognition to acknowledge schools for their positive impact on the community during the covid-19 pandemic I am proud to say that the criteria next life please the criteria was are social media check-ins virtual recognition Corporation led by staff parent recognitions with home visit campaigns and staff and family check in and we have 14 Schools next light rig recognized for all clear hard work we might have been down for school closures but we were still uplifting our community congratulations to all 14 sites I'm very proud of you and your efforts thank you next by please so I learning Surety plan we have have robust family engagement from our community I want to personally thank those parents who reached out to me who gave me feedback who sent me emails who filled out the survey I'm so grateful and appreciative you because it does take a village so we had several meetings we did our survey where we had over 500 responses and areas of feedback of Diaz survey and emails and letters I'm all fill under for brought names of communication such as think of multiple ways to communicate to the community due to the virtual climate we're in social media they love what we're doing on social media and would like for us to continue to broadcast on highlight all the wonderful things that are happening in our great District academics they are excited about the enrichment classes the are classes the dance that yoga classes they are looking forward to the one I want to during the homework hotline as well some interventions that are coming our way and last but not least a big one for all of us but mostly important to underscore for our students and families is social emotional learning and wanting to make sure that not only are we supporting our kids academically and school but then we are also concerned for their well-being all around again thank you so much for the robust family survey for all of the communication surrounding the survey it will lead our work as we move for and I'm very appreciative to our students and families that concludes my report sir I just want to say I just want to thank after being diligent and godly parent feedback list running has  playing would not be right if it didn't have her voice included so the kudos to all of you for making sure we reached out to the to the community make sure that the bosses are parents that took time to the feedback I think this has been a very trying time and that parent feedback pieces as allowed us to Pivot and adjust our course offerings and provide additional resources based off of what parents really excited to see what is the I'll come up on this work as well thank you present if there are no other questions or comments sensory eraser hand sorry I didn't mean to interrupt you but thank you for that yeah I have a quick question I know that I'm happy to hear that we have a survey is there anyway that we can make those survey results available just so that we can know what are the areas that we should work on and a follow-up question to the survey do we have that data desegregated by school and have we provided that to was installed so that they can also make efforts to provide additional services or just move forward with whatever feedback they received by school we had a deadline I believe it was September 14th to get my feedback from the community but we got some information as late as Monday and we didn't want to turn anything away we really wanted make sure that we took listen to it from the community and get their feedback so these are the four major areas and our staff has again begun the process of this are getting the data and also looking at where the servers are coming from and then we're going to be doing that but we also want to make sure that we get a response back to the community so if any members of recommendation we also will be responding individually to one of them and then the other thing is we're going to translate everything so if you submitted something in in Spanish we will translate it to English as well as Spanish because we want to make sure that this is accessible to everyone and again this is the first time that districts of had to do something like this but you know it's not so very proud of the staff of rising up to the challenge and doing whatever possible to make sure that the community about this call the school and sharing this information publicly on social media and we had security members out there who really push for this as well they were the ones you took responsibility I'll tell you we got packets about this pic with all the feedback that they provided and those are the ones that we didn't want to turn away because they really did a good job of going out there and being diligent about getting additional feedback and they actually broke Elsa had a, time I just also wanted to thank staff for all the work I know that these are difficult times you're not as connected and a noise I heard from the community and saw the community responding to the survey and it was really great to see that and see that we were doing things we weren't doing before to make sure that we reached out to our families are special especially answering this time we're we're disconnected and I also had one more question I was curious to know do you feel that we got a higher response this clan and we've had with the other parent surveys we've done in the past for Elf hats or was it about the same I'm just curious I'm going to say 10 times more because the El Cap process was completely different this is no longer the El Cap but that's what we're used to calling it but previously the air code only provided that we hold the stakeholder meeting and inform parents this is the first year they have required feedback and I can tell you for and foremost to me that was the best part because without the feedback from our stakeholders and thank you to those parents who really really push the survey we would not be informed enough to write such a wonderful plan and our plan is very cool he's we received Kudos from LA county and I'm very proud of it and I love the process and I I like it better than the old one and I'm sure the parents would agree mr. president I feel like to have a question for me thinking I feel like some explanation for the bearings for the community on the social emotional learning what is it that parents can take advantage of this area or the student so what we're we're in the process of doing out along with our student services department is we're looking to adopt a curriculum we also have a a I don't want to say is gender is not a curriculum but we have a set of things that we used to wear PBIS which we are still doing even in a virtual environment we just had our schools retrained for this school year so we have our strategies that were using with students have made our hotline for anyone needing I'm Outreach we have made that virtual there's a link for that and we are looking at bringing in second step we have our social workers are licensed social workers and looking to add me and then bringing in a second step curriculum which is a lot of short videos that can be played for students and we have the information online so the parents can please. The information I feel like they need some support emotional support yes our hotline is public we have a QR code if you go on there and the website is a q scan a QR code with your phone the form pops up and on the hotline R5 license social workers will respond to any calls thank you very much because I was looking into these learning continually plan is actually very well developed but I should have. social and emotional learning very something that is really need it right now and one great thing coming Miss Lopez is we are putting banners we have ordered banners with the QR codes so they are widely advertised because everybody still not comfortable going online and going to website but with the banners they can scan with their phone and it take them straight to the form as well as the number for the hotline will also be posted anyone can we should ban if Jupiter in a year free thundersports special in every school thank you so much you're welcome my pleasure difficult photos on the hotline I was I was on a pan on Wednesday at Mitcham the hotline and is about 150 attendees mostly School District admin and teachers and they were shocked that we had at that we had a hotline that was so successful in and allowed us to provide additional resources the parents I think a very vital resource it was thoughtful to put in that place but I'm happy to see that as of the as time has gone on that we've gotten better at Aulani resources to that specific tool for our parents so happy to see that will be publicizing the hotline community so easy included also thoughtfulness and Ingenuity of our staff is going to better for a community in the long run so close to TV off thank you sir thank you president Hardy and continuing I'd like to pass it over to dr. Lucas who will be welcome to the community the board members at any stop faculty staff administrators we have listening tonight I am and so proud to work with over 1,600 amazing employees who have pivoted to use that word a lot but pivoted and worked incredibly hard to support the community and students prices that were going through a board meeting where we I think it's one of the more fun board meetings no offense board members but sometimes babies are so fun but this is a fun one new employees to and a district to come on down and to meet you all and it's a little bit of a celebratory environments and this year and fortunately as we are all experiencing right now if we are not able to do that so to try that celebrate our amazing to employees who can you imagine starting a new job and starting a new job in a pentamic I mean it's just it's just incredible so and I'm going to lovingly call it can go to the next screen it's called question the board so here's how the here's how the game works I hope you can see it as you could click for the next Some D's by the words or numbers are some of our new employees who hiring that happened over the summer or just just something about new don't do folks coming on board so as any good teacher will do Under the model one for you and the question is what does 82 mean about 4 hiring new people coming on board and you might say 82 is the graduation rate of our youngest employee oldest employee that we I'll tell you after you give me some some well-informed 82 is actually the Dorado the number of classified employees that we hired over the course of our hiring season so are classified hiring season we actually counted every employee after September of last year to this year so we have higher gated ossified employees so now I'm what do you think instructional assistants means all of you what's so special about instructional assistants in our hiring season any ideas I'm running wild guess and say that I instructional systems during this season had to be more tech-savvy than in the past anyone else want to try something I think that the personal assistants right now can be butterfly Community last time to call him that the families to see how they can help that's so you don't like giving out like Robin Gomez Ariel's things like that excellent good good idea that's why you all are board members because that's actually a much higher level than in my ID which is Morado instructional assistants happen to be our largest group of hires that we've hired over this car as believe that we hired 25 do instructional assistants and what do you think the number 7 represent is kind of a hard one but in any guesses 7-Up ministrator I was going to say we got seven you teachers and ideas unfortunately all wrong number seven is the number certificated tires that are actually LUSD alumni so we're particularly proud of that Stars goal to recruit and get as many folks that we can get in that are alumni and of course we have our relationship right now that's I know you've heard about with all the university and I'm trying to do just that even more so on hiring at new employees this year excellent nice job correct they are the school with the most new teachers at 15 new teachers were hired for Lynnwood High School you all will recall that last year we had the voluntary retirement program and over 40 staff members took advantage of that program has high school being that was most affected but they did we hire 15 new teachers next one culinary arts what do you think about that one when did Mark t-shirts this is actually believe it or not to certificated physician that was the hardest culinary culinary arts we had very few certificated applicants and pass it looks long and hard to to recruit some strong people for that one last little bit this is this is this is an easy calling for parents in community and stop Oliver amazing employees heads iPad as you can imagine for certificate maybe it's a little bit easier because you had to come up with some creative ways of doing are all part of our marriage system while using zoom and taking care of all of that so mr. Oh I don't know if the sound is working is the sound working I had just one little so before I go on I just want to say we are going to I'm not going to highlight every single boys names in front of you just so you could see who they are and recognize them for again coming into the amazing dewittschooldistrict that is on the move on and so is Gerardo this one more please some stopping highlights for you to review at a different time breaking down by different classifications and things that we again are classified employees remember classified who started over the course of last year and this fall do I have messenger Auto thank you thank you thank you thank you thanks thank you thank you I think this is the last one one more thank you very much. Oh so again. but you can have it in your mind for a sarner certificated employees I want highlight I didn't mention in our game that you seem to be that 39 new certificated employees and it gets five are the secondary level and so when other highlights was that we hired a substantial amounts of special education 13 employees 7 science Ira mentioned 711 by six of our employees are out American program if so what are these folks next thank you thank you thank you I think we have one more call snow this is Jess I got to give a shout out to the HR team who does just work over the summer and again in the missive pentamic still getting us fully stocked and ready to go first for a very different and challenging school year here they are such an amazing team that did this work and thanks to all of them and thanks to all of you for support HR portion of tonight's presentation any questions or comments that was an outstanding way to read new hires on I know we're used to Granny the weather in person but that almost made me feel like I was back to the office and it was slippery worm toy So Below are awesome work is always looking forward to at some point being able to meet them in person and welcome home to 7 alumni that are joining us as well so thank you to all your staff for the great work for a few getting this done I just wanted to say thank you mr. Lucas it was fun breaking the ice are you nice thank you I also wanted to just give a quick shout-out just to the HR department itself coming from another school district right now it's so hard to fill positions and this is learning is just so tough that even like certificate of positions or hard because teachers don't know what it's going to be like to come into a classroom right now so just an HR department thank you for just being on top of it and being so diligent I super excited to see seven of them coming back that's always just it feels like yes we're back home and that's always a win but just in general seen before. It's just such a it's kind of like one thing less to worry about so thank you for the whole team for all of your hard work they're also going to bed I think it it shouldn't be best that our financial picture of of us take a practice steps to make sure that we have a balanced budget for the next couple of years even allows us to do this against the higher with independent people saying budget cuts is if you wear to a certain degree with a higher at the level that we did salsa to be tremendous also could break from his staff were the team would continue to allow us to make good decisions with with our resources and budget spent in order to have a Quality Staffing and not dealing with the tremendous job loss. other places and I think we have to do a better job of celebrating our windows we can because that is not the case across every District in California and Charlene are across the districts Across the Nation so great job so all that work involved in the process but overall our approach to providing a high-quality education for our families by hiring the most qualified staff President Harding thank you Doctor Lucas and you know this wouldn't impossible without the board's Vision about approving the early retirement incentive and I think that's where it ended up needing a better position love your vision misses word and that's what allowed us to be where we're at today so I just last presentation Midwood High School District yes thank you Doctor Lucas that was great I was so engaged it was very fun it was it put a little pep in my step now so I thank you for putting that on not a tough to follow up that though and that so I'm I'll give you a brief update on the facilities over at Lynnwood High School couple weeks ago we were here and then you passed a emergency resolution so we could bypass the state didn't require so we can get to work on removing the risk at Lynwood high so we can bring the students back next light please so I'm just going to present to you the timeline that were followed with that were following some some things have been done some things will our start are starting to begin the dispersed sharp reconstruction timeline is wrapping up I started on the 2nd of September and went through yesterday we've completed sidewalks with potential contractors we provided them with a scope of work for the removal of the ceilings that has been done we've also gathered proposal proposal proposals you'd and we reviewed those now we're in the perfume that picture procurement stage where we yesterday we provided the awards to the to the beds that are going to go out and do the work now they will turn in their bonds and all that certain documents that they need to do to start then beginning next week they'll be getting free construction will begin to meet about that and I will give the firm's up a nose and who is to proceed and then beginning on the 5th of October construction should begin where they will start to remove the risk with an anticipated completion date is before the 1st of December December can stick to this will be on track to hopefully have the school available for students to come back on if we're allowed to bring students back after the first of the year once again this is for the remove removal of the which once that risk is removed that will allow the site to be safe so students and adults can be on there from back to work student can come back on that those sites to learn any questions again I know you can give us a trivia game to play for this is super important work and I just want to commend you and your staff and general counsel for diagnosing Expediting the process so that we identified the area brisk and in ways to mitigate that when we showed that we are spelling out that we are not limiting the inspection to the area of a cup collapse for ensuring that the entire school to stay before we proceed back to having kids so I can stop back on campus noted in a recording and I'm hoping we can start it up there was a community asked us to the stuff that we're doing to address these issues so that they're aware as well and I just want to be president as we welcome.
