Lynwood Unified Commemorates Juneteenth During Community Event at Hosler Middle School

Joy filled the air during Lynwood Unified’s Juneteenth Freedom Day Brunch event on June 10 at Hosler Middle School, where members of the District community gathered at the Holser campus to commemorate the historic day on which the last enslaved people in Texas were declared free and celebrate unity with their fellow students, families and staff.

The venue was decorated with colorful banners, artwork and historical displays that paid homage to African American culture and the fight for freedom. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the community embraced the opportunity to express their creativity and share their stories as music, games, a photo booth and other activities brought the District community together.

District leaders emphasized the importance of honoring history and embracing unity in pursuing equity, access and justice. The event aimed to not only celebrate past achievements but also serve as a powerful reminder of the ongoing journey toward freedom and equality for all.
